About the Artist

I have always been a passionate environmentalist. I am grateful to have had the experiences with birds and animals in my work in wildlife rehabilitation, and bird banding. My interest in bird portraits began when I was banding birds. Having them in hand allowed me to see birds as individuals, each one unique. I have been creating these bird (and mammal) portraits for over 10 years.

Although my subject matter is almost always nature related, lately, a new style has emerged. Adding decorative elements to the portraits in the form of branches that curl, swirls, floral designs, berries... have added a bit more whimsy to my pieces. I am having fun creating interesting designs with these elements. Experimentation has always been something I do regularly. No matter what, I want my work to convey a sense of joy, happiness, and most of all, an appreciation for the natural world around us.
